Service Description
This 6 week course is designed to work on the obedience skills lots of owners struggle with as their dog moves into adolescence. Adolescence in dogs can be a very tricky phase. It is caused by changes in their hormones and physical development. It is the most common age for dogs to be rehomed as your dog has the energy of a puppy, the brain of a teenager and is usually the size of an adult dog! They may display selective hearing, lack of attention span, apparent “stubbornness”, lack of self-control and the start of unwanted behaviours (e.g., resource guarding, chasing, etc). It is probably the most challenging phase in raising a dog. In our 6week Puppy Progression we will go back to basics and making sure that your dog really understands what you want and help you prevent unwanted behaviours becoming reinforced. It will cover exercises such as walking on a loose lead, meeting other dogs and people in a controlled manner, food manners, jumping up, waits, recalls and more, whilst aiming to improve your relationship and give you exercises to work on at home. It will also include an Agility Taster & a Hoopers Taster. Sessions will be tailored to the groups needs. Suitable for dogs who have had some previous structured Puppy Training who are under 18 months of age. Dogs will work towards the MAD Puppy Progression award. If you have not attended any formal puppy classes previously (doesn't need to be with us) please contact us before booking. Reactive Dogs: We do not allow dogs with reactivity issues or aggression issues to attend group training classes. We encourage early training and socialisation to ensure dogs do not become reactive. If your dog is reactive to other dogs or humans, a group class with not resolve this, you need specialist training from a behaviorist. We will not put ourselves, other trainers, customers or their dogs at risk by allowing your dog into a class situation. If you are asked to leave a class you have been booked onto due to your dog being reactive - no refund will be given. Over excitement should not be confused for reactivity. Please ensure you have read the terms and conditions in particular in relation to bitches in season and cancellations.
